Created during 2025, The Cardboard Works formed part of a 2-artist exhibition with Gayle Stockley in early 2026. We each produced works for the show which coalesced through our shared interest in the relationship of cardboard to minimalist art and abstraction.

My works in the exhibition engage with cardboard as colour, structure and surface, exploring its relationship to pattern in an extension of my previous works. The works continue to explore a ‘disturbed’ or non-2D painting substrate to affect the way a viewer is able to experience the works, and to provide a means to explore the combination of colour and pattern. I used found/recycled cardboard for the works, introducing an element of chance through the existing marks, folds and textures of the material.
